Singapore Circle Line finally completes the loop with three new stations!

It's a big day for Singapore! To wrap up 17 years of development, the Circle Line (CCL) finally became a true closed loop today, July 12th. The highly anticipated Circle Line Stage 6 (CCL6) extension is now officially open for passenger service, adding three new stations and making trips along the southern waterfront much faster.

Here is everything you need to know about the completed loop.

Completing the Circle

The new 4-kilometer extension directly connects HarbourFront to Marina Bay, bridging the final gap in the 39-kilometer loop. Commuters traveling between the two stations no longer need to make multiple transfers across the North East and North South lines. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) estimates this direct connection will save passengers about 10 minutes of travel time!

The extension adds three new underground stations to the network:

Station Numbering and Wayfinding Updates

With the loop completed, the MRT system map has received a few adjustments. Marina Bay and Bayfront, which were previously labeled as CE1 and CE2 respectively, have been renumbered to match the rest of the Circle Line. Marina Bay is now CC33, and Bayfront rounds out the loop as CC34.

Because the line is now a continuous loop rather than a horseshoe, traditional "terminal stations" are a thing of the past. To help you find your way, the LTA has rolled out simplified digital displays on platforms indicating whether the train travels "via Promenade" or "via MacPherson".

If you are travelling toward the Dhoby Ghaut or Marina Bay branches, pay close attention to the platform screens to ensure the train ends at your desired terminus.
